Bourgogne d’ Ferndale & Montmorency Cherry Bourgogne d’ Ferndale – Oak aged Flanders style sour ale & Oak aged Flanders style sour ale conditioned on Michigan Cherries.

We are pleased to release to you a beer three years in the making. We aged this beer in Portuguese Pedro Ximenez sherry as well as French oak wine barrels on a classic mixed culture of Lacto, Pedio and Brettanomyces. Over its extended stay in barrels it developed a balanced funk profile with a lightly tart acidity. It’s exhibiting characters of dark fruit leather, fancy pipe tobacco, funk and mature oak.

The Montmorency version was further aged on Michigan Montmorency cherries for an added lift of bright cherry acidity and tartness, as well as a delightful backbone of cinnamon and dried fruit.

These beers will continue to age and progress in the bottle as time goes on, further developing deeper funk and acidity. We recommend drinking one now, and saving another for a special occasion.

Bourgogne d’ Ferndale is a nod to the original name of Flanders style sour ales. Traditionally being called the “Burgundy of Flanders”. We drew inspiration from this and are excited to offer you the Burgundy of Ferndale, Bourgogne d’ Ferndale.
